As a council tennant do the council have an obligation to remove a previous tenants rubbish which is a hazard?

rubbish is under the grass and appearing, rubbish includes glass, tins and mattress springs.
Answers:
I worked for the council and we had to remove previous tenants rubbish as well as rubbish the current tenants had ?
No, we had the same and the council said we had to clear it.
yes, they do it's already sposed to have been done whilst the prev tenant had left so basically if u have moved there whilst their rubish was there then they(prev tennant)have got away with it.
and that means they will charge u with what is left sorry
Yes as it will cause vermin
DEfinitly ,that rubbish should have been moved before you even got the house .It s not up to you to move it, its theyre job dont do it for them they get well paid for it.
dont think so
bloody useless council
i know i had similar problems
yes they do, they are under the obligation that the premises are fit for human habitation which means that the place should have been cleaned inside and out by the council.
It depends on a few different factors, the first being which local authority you live under. I work for the council as a gardener and in certain circumstances the council will clear your garden of refuse either before or just after you have moved in.
Normally if you are a single parent or in any way disabled the council will do this for free. Otherwise there is normally a fee and you have to state what rubbish is to be removed. If you then add a few bags of rubbish yourself they will not be removed as they are not on the list you provided.
Make enquiries with your council and make sure you stress that the rubbish was left there by a previous tenant.
Yes! I moved into my flat last year and the yard was in an appalling state. I rang and demanded a visit from the housing inspector and he came out within 4 days and they cleared the lot. Give them a ring and also see if they have angers or similar working for your council. We now have a ranger service and can give them ring over any dumped rubbish and they will come and move that too.
No They usually clear the stuff that is on the surface, but anything that is buried you have to get rid of.
However, sometimes if a new tenant moves into a new house and discovers a huge quantity of rubbish like yours, they will take the stuff away if you clear it all,and get it ready for them to take. We had a similar situation when we moved to a new home. They were very good and took two small lorry loads away for us. I am sure if you spoke to them very nicely they may do the same for you. After all it is not your doing.
Yes! if they refuse tell them your taking the matter up with the ombudsman, bet you get it moved then !
Yes they paid their rates council should remove it.
